Remember Sydney Street Cats in your Will

We rely 100% on funding from kind and wonderful people like you, who believe in helping vulnerable cats living on the streets of Sydney, preventing them breeding, while providing much needed veterinary care and food, and a second chance of a safe and loving home. We couldn't save the hundreds of cats we assist each year without your much needed support. There are three key ways you can include Sydney Street Cats Incorporated in your Will:
  • Residuary bequest
A residuary legacy is a gift of a percentage of the remainder of your estate after all your other wishes have been fulfilled and expenses met. Because the value of your gift will rise with inflation, it will be worth as much to us tomorrow as it is today.
  • Specific bequest
A specific legacy is a gift of a specific item of value. For example a painting or a property.
  • Pecuniary bequest
A pecuniary legacy is simply a gift of a specific amount of money. For example, $1,000. Please be sure to discuss these options with a solicitor. They’ll ensure that your loved ones and the causes you hold dear benefit from your Will exactly as you would wish. Writing a bequestIt’s important to word your Will correctly to ensure your wishes are carried exactly as you intend. The appropriate wording is below:I GIVE AND BEQUEATH:(a) The residue of my estate, or(b) A percentage of my estate, or(c) The specific sum of $__________, and/or (d) Items from my estate.to SYDNEY STREET CATS INCORPORATED (ABN 72 466 082 281). (“the charity”) for its general purposes PROVIDED HOWEVER if at the date of my death the charity has:(i) Amalgamated with another charitable institution or institutions, this legacy shall take effect as if it had been made to the amalgamated institutions.(ii) Changes its name or constitution or both, this legacy shall take effect as if it had been made to the amalgamated institution with either, or both the name or constitution as altered.(iii) Transferred all its assets to another charitable institution, this legacy shall take effect as if it had been made to the institution to which the assets have been transferred or,(iv) Ceased to exist, my trustees shall pay legacy to such other charitable institution the object, which in the opinion of my trustees most resembles those of the charity.(v) I DECLARE that the receipt of the secretary or other proper officer for the time being of the institution to which the legacy should have been paid and pursuant (a) of this clause shall be a full discharge for my trustees for the legacy, nor shall my trustees be bound to see to its application.
